Product Review: @YAROKhair Care

So I think I may have finally found a natural hair care line that actually works with my hair type. Yarok is based in New York & I tried three of their products to begin with. I bought these on my own from the Fresh Faced website. All images are from the Yarok website.

Feed Your Ends: This product comes in three different sizes, 2 oz, 4 oz & 8 oz. I got the 8 oz size. I spray it on the ends of my hair right after I’ve showered & comb it through. You don’t need much if you want to use it as a detangler. To use as a heat protector you would want to spray it all over & comb through. At $23 for the 8 0z size it seems pricey but a little goes a long way for me. The scent is a lovely lemon merginue.

Feed Your Roots: This one comes in 2 oz & 8 oz sizes. Again I got the 8 oz size for $23. I read reviews from different sites before purchasing the large size. It really gave my hair good volume. Note that in some reviews it didn’t work for others.  Maybe it’s my hair type.  I was using Curl Keeper before &  I couldn’t get near the volume I do now with this product. Plus I found out that Curl Keeper isn’t as eco-friendly as I’d originally thought. Anyway, I was astounded at the effect Feed Your Roots had on my hair. I used about 6 pumps on different areas of my hair, combed it through & then scrunched. As usual, I let my hair air dry. It took less time to dry & my hair was slightly crunchy. When I scrunched to get rid of the crunchy feeling, the hold remained & it didn’t flake! Amazing! I can’t tell you how many different gels & mousses I’ve tried & when I scrunched my hair it would flake. I still had some fly aways though, so then I used a bit of Feed Your Do to tame those down.  This one’s a keeper! It’s a couple dollars more than Curl Keeper but totally worth it for me.

Feed Your Do: I purchased the 4 oz size. It is also available in the 2 oz travel size on the Yarok website. This stuff smells like lemon meringue pie! LOL. It’s highly concentrated so you don’t need much. The first time I used it was to tame the fly aways after using Feed Your Roots. My next test will be to use it on my damp hair without Feed Your Roots. Will update to let you know how that goes!

Conclusion: I hate to say it. I wanted to buy some organic, natural hair care products from a Canadian company. But Yarok works so well for me. If I ever find a Canadian company that makes just as good organic & natural hair care products, I may switch. But for now, Yarok is my cannot-do-without hair care line!

Update: Did a bit of experimenting & I found the perfect way to use the Yarok products on my loose curly hair. After my shower & washing my hair, I use the leave in conditioner while my hair is still dripping wet.  Then I work in a small handful of Feed Your Do & comb through very well. Next step is to plop my hair, scrunch, then let air dry. If there are any limp areas I scrunch in a pump of the Feed Your Roots for volume & then voila! Perfect hair!
